RAK department of economic development are offering the incentive and are looking to clean up sloppy language on commercial road signs.
“So far, 44 people have fervently participated in the initiative, which is meant to protect the Arabic language and curb all spelling mistakes in the commercial signboards in the emirate,” said Ahmed Ali Al Balooshi, director of the department, in a news article on the Khaleej Times by Ahmad Shaaban.
The cash rewards are part of World Arabic Language Day.
Al Balooshi added that if any submissions prove to be valid and correct in helping improve the use of the Arabic language, that, “… the department shall contact the one who detected the mistake and reward him with a cash prize in recognition for his effort and cooperation. The Arabic language should be used correctly and free from any mistake.”
