The UAE is renowned for being one of the world’s wealthiest states, with stable political and financial conditions which has led to an influx of foreign workers now making up almost 90% of the population.
It is also famous for the Burj Khalifa (the world’s tallest building based in Dubai which measures 828m, if you include the spire on top), the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque (built to honour the late president of the UAE) with its lined, white marble walls and classical Islamic domes, vaults and arches, and of course, for the shopping malls (the Dubai Mall of the Emirates boasts 2.5million square foot of retail space, plus the world’s third largest indoor ski slope, in case you get fed-up with shopping!).
But now the UAE can add another notch in its belt – it’s officially the best travel destination in the world.
According to The National online, the UAE has won more awards in the last five years than any other destination, beating countries such as, the USA, South Africa and Thailand to become the world’s best travel destination.
From the 3000 destination awards given out over the last five years, including categories such as, travel, hospitality, and business and entertainment, the UAE has won a staggering 282 awards.
The UAE came first in the following categories:

• Entertainment – Warner Bros World, in Abu Dhabi, was named the Middle East’s ‘Leading Tourist Attraction’ by the World Travel Awards. Alongside this there are indoor ski slopes, the Louvre Abu Dhabi, Al Ain Zoo, Ferrari World and much more, so there is always plenty to keep you entertained while visiting the UAE.
